Autumn Animals | Our Early Years students have been learning about the autumn season and what happens during this beautiful time of year. Through the pages of story books and playful songs, the students explored the different animals that could be found in a forest. Using natural items such as sticks, leaves and chestnuts, the students created their own animals to decorate their learning spaces. Foxes, squirrels and owls, oh my! |
|
|
| Shapes! Shapes! Shapes! | During numeracy lessons in the Early Years, the students began to learn about two-dimensional shapes. They started with the different names of shapes, then identifying the different shapes around the classroom and then learning the characteristics of each shape. The students will continue to explore and identify shapes that can be found within our world. | |

Summative Share | At the end of every unit of inquiry, students will create or design a piece of work that represents the information that they have learned during the unit. Some of these units will include a Summative Share, which provides an opportunity for students to share the final outcome of their learning with the school community. Parents and family members visit and engage with their child’s learning. Students from other year levels, also get to enjoy viewing the different topics and listening to their peers present. |

| Halloween Fun | On October 31st, the ISB staff and students arrived at school looking a little different than usual. The day was full of fun events for everyone to enjoy. They walked the red carpet to show off their Halloween costumes. They were strategic while playing the ghostly games and were creative with the crazy crafts. Everyone had a spooktacular time, ending the day with a sweet little trick-or-treat. | |

Flower Dissection | The Science Lab is a place to look at familiar things in a whole new way. Year 8 students recently brought some flowers to the lab to see what they look like under the microscope after learning how to properly dissect and prepare them for viewing. Fun stuff! |

| Guess Who? | Games are a great way to give students the chance to practice new vocabulary. Our Year 9 students have been learning how to describe people in Spanish and what better way to practice than by playing an old classic: Guess Who? Or in Spanish: Quien Es Quien? | |

Service Learning | For students participating in the Duke of Edinburgh International Award and the IB Diploma Programme, one of the most fun requirements is Service Learning. In addition to helping out the community, it is a chance to learn new skills and meet new people. We have recently set up a partnership with Rybka Community Garden and we are proud to be working with them to set up a community garden. Our Year 10 students’ recent job was to build and then test out the fire pit. | | Unifrog | It is always really fun to help students explore their university options and then assist them in applying to schools that will provide them with their next adventure in education. Our High School students were recently given a Unifrog account. Under the guidance of our careers counsellor, Ms. Petra Frisk, students completed a Unifrog questionnaire that helped them identify their interest and aims. Unifrog will then use this data to help them identify and apply to universities that are a good fit for them. | |
