Risk-Taking Skiers |
In order to encourage students to become risk-takers, you need to provide opportunities for them to challenge themselves in a safe environment. Starting from early years we incorporate exciting skiing adventures for our students. These sessions help boost self-esteem,provide skills to practise perseverance and give opportunities for children to appreciate and connect with nature. All of this helps develop confidence for stepping out of their comfort zone and to embrace being a risk taker. |

Knowledgeable Geometers |
Geometry is used in various daily life applications such as astronomy, engineering, architecture and space. A great part of PYP is making transdisciplinary connections and providing opportunities for students to make real life connections. Therefore, creating learning activities for children to develop spatial awareness, recognize shapes and their properties is a key component to our Maths scope and sequence in early years. |

Inquiring into Space |
Creating engaging student- led experiences is key to children’s learning. What better way to inquire into Earth’s movement than actually rotating around the world map, around each other with a flashlight. Key questions such as, (If it is midday in America where is it midnight? If it is dawn in Asia, where will it be dusk?) were asked to spark curiosity. Students then reflected on their learning by writing a paragraph about their discoveries. |

Scientists in the Making
|
In year 3, students are inquiring into tension to learn how different forces and energy impact the world around them. Through a range of engaging activities, students make observations about their experiments and create hypotheses. Students are then given agency to create their own inventions using different materials to test their findings and communicate the results with their peers. This is all happening while they research famous scientists around the world, making local and global connections, and hopefully inspiring some students to one day become a scientist themself.

Chess Club |
One of the more popular extra-curricular activities has been the Chess Club. Once a week, students from all divisions gather to challenge each other over the chess board. The interesting thing about chess is that age doesn’t necessarily provide an advantage. We have some pretty skilled young thinkers who win on a fairly regular basis. |

Ski Trip |
Secondary students spent the day on the slopes in Austria, working on their technique or simply enjoying the sun and the snow. The trips are so important for our students as they create memories that will last them a lifetime. |

Cybersecurity |
High School students joined Mr. Michal Merta, a cybersecurity expert, to learn about the dangers of the online world. Mr. Merta shared many stories of what the threats look like now, how they are evolving and, most importantly, how the students can protect themselves. |

Environmental Systems & Societies |
One of the science classes available to our high school students is called Environmental Systems and Societies(ESS). The ESS students were joined by Mr. Ondřej Tarabus, who is a forester who works to manage different biomes in sustainable ways. Through their conversation with him they became more knowledgeable about the impacts of human action on climate change and the science around the topic. |
