Community Helpers |
In early years, as part of our community helpers exploration, we welcomed a Police Officer and a Nurse, who were grandparents of a student. They shared about their roles in keeping our community safe and healthy. Students were able to make meaningful connections with their previous visit to the fire station and understanding the importance of community helpers in our everyday life. |

Mother Tongue Celebrations |
As part of our Book Week activities, family members are invited to be mystery readers in classes. They read books in their native language which truly fascinates our students, helps them delve into different cultures and be open- minded to the mother tongues that exist in our learning community. |

Risk- Taker Explorers |
Year 5 students took on the role of real life explorers and learnt survival skills which they shared with their parents and peers. They made different types of fire, learnt emergency signalling like morse code and the Nato phonetic alphabet, tied survival knots and even made a water filter. |
 | Taking Meaningful Action |
As part of the PYP exhibition, a group of Year 6 students held a recycling competition for primary with prizes from Sako, our local waste management company. Our caring Year 3 students stepped up to the occasion and with their dedication to creating a clean environment won first prize. |

Reading of 12 Angry Men |
Year 9 English students are currently reading through the play Twelve Angry Men. Each student is reading as a different role as they try to decide whether the defendant in the play is guilty or not. By reading the play out loud, students can explore the impact of stage direction and the effect the spoken word has on the overall impact of the story. |

All about Cells |
Year 7 students have been investigating cells. As always in Biology, there is a lot to keep in memory in order to work with the knowledge, for example comparing plant and animal organelles. To help this task, students worked together using flash cards, analogies and other memorisation techniques. |

Building a working Hydrogen Cell |
Once again, ISB students made the school very proud at the annual Vienna Science Fair. One of our students built a working hydrogen cell. Through painstaking research, trial and error, 3D printing, flame tests, the device you see in the picture is capable of producing hydrogen. Needless to say, it received a Superior rating. |

Exploring Values and Culture |
The world needs more principled and skilled communicators. Year 11 students have been exploring questions of religious belief, individual rights in their Literature classes. By exploring these questions in fictional contexts, they build up valuable critical thinking skills. |
