Little Scientists |
We're excited about our new addition of science experiments tailored for children aged 3-5 to our afternoon program! These hands-on activities are designed to be both fun and educational, sparking a sense of curiosity and wonder in our young learners. The children are eagerly engaging and exploring simple science concepts. We can't wait to see how this program inspires future little scientists and fosters a lifelong love for learning. |

Book Week |
During Book Week, Year 1 celebrated Africa with exciting stories and activities. Students created a map of Africa and enjoyed a special reading by Ms. Corona, who brought traditional clothes from Tanzania for them to explore. The kids had a fantastic time learning about Tanzanian culture and trying on the colorful outfits, making it a truly memorable and fun experience! |

Global Citizenship |
Y4 read and discussed the book, The Water Princess by Suzan Verde and made connections to the story all the way from Brno. We wanted our art to reflect the connection everyone around the world has to water, and that here in Brno, we are so fortunate to simply open a tap and have access to clean water. It's important to never take that for granted. |

Jane Goodall |
Our Year 6 class had an incredible experience travelling to Salzburg to hear Dr. Jane Goodall speak about her life’s work in conservation. Her stories about studying chimpanzees and advocating for wildlife preservation have brought our biodiversity lessons to life. Dr. Goodall’s message on the importance of protecting species and their habitats resonated deeply with us as we’ve been learning about ecosystems and the delicate balance within them. Seeing her in person inspired us all to think about how we, too, can make a difference for the planet. |

Mendel Museum |
Year 8 students visited the interactive Mendel Museum in Brno, the very place where Gregor Mendel conducted his famous pea experiments. As the father of genetics, Mendel’s work helped us understand who we are in hereditary terms. Through hands-on exhibits, we explored the science of inheritance and the role of traits passed down through generations. |

Prehistoric Museum |
The Prehistoric museum is open! For Year 7’s first summative in Individuals & Societies, the students created fossils or artefacts that demonstrate innovations or adaptations that helped early humans survive. They were then able to share their knowledge with plenty of museum visitors. |

Creativity, Service and Action…in action |
ISB Celebrates IB DP Students Jakub Tioka, Eliška Kučínská and Viktor Lekeš, who raised over 900,000 CZK for their CAS Project. They organised a special Italian Wine Degustation and Sport Auction attended by Czech sports legends Pavel Nedvěd and Tomáš Berdych. The charity evening successfully raised over 900,000 CZK for two causes; the local cancer charity, Úsměv nejen pro Kryštofa and from Italy, the disability charity, La Carovana di Alba. |

This October was a month full of activities and learning for our well-being programs. We hosted well-being assemblies for both primary and secondary schools. The secondary assembly was focused on time and self management, and taught us how to eliminate stress outside of school by making sure that students are on top of their assignments and are well organised through various techniques to assist them in managing their workloads (allowing time for assignments, but also relaxation, etc).
The theme was chosen to help students navigate a school/life balance that allows them to have time and energy to have a fulfilling personal life. The primary assembly focused on the theme of being reflective and how to take time to look back and review on students' days and behaviours. This helped students to be mindful of how they are feeling, and how this learner profile can help primary students to take “being reflective” from only a concept, and put it into practice. We look forward to another great month ahead of ISB well-being in classrooms. |
